At Bromsgrove we have just introduced a lending library for our families. We have already had lots of donations of books from parents, and children are already enjoying choosing a book to take home for their bed time story.
Listening to stories is a really good way to support children’s early literacy and supports children in their development of becoming a young reader.
Reading stories to children and sharing books is an integral part of learning at nursery, we do this during daily routine story times and periodically with small groups or individual children.

From the statutory framework- Literacy development involves encouraging children to link sounds and letters and to begin to read and write. Children must be given access to a wide range of reading books (books, poems, and other written materials) to ignite their interest.
