In Preschool 1, Helen set up the tuff spot with some goldilocks and the three bears story props. Helen encouraged the children to access the tuff spot and explore the props. This activity supported the children’s communication and language development, as they used their own ideas to act out the story using the props. The children remembered how the story went, anticipating key events and repeating key phrases. This activity also supported the children’s role-play skills, as they accessed the props to get into character and used them at the correct points in the story. All of the children sorted out between themselves who would be each character within the story and played alongside each other in a group. This supported their ability to work together, use each other’s ideas and share resources.
