This week, we are taking part in ’30 days to transform your play’ so as part of this we decided to make our own play dough.
The children sat at the table taking it in turns to add flour and water. One of the children said ‘we can make the play dough brown’ and the children suggested adding brown paint to do this.
The children then explored the play dough with their hands. We then added tractors and other vehicles to our play. The children were really focused on using the nuts and bolts to make marks and holes in the play dough. The children also used the playdough as ‘cement’ in construction using a variety of resources they selected from around the room.
The children also used their imagination and whilst rolling the vehicles through the ‘mud’ said, “our cars are getting stuck!”. Some of the children even introduced role play into the activity as they dressed up as builders before returning to continue their play in character.
