Chinese New Year 2020 – Year of the Rat

This week Pre-school have been learning all about and celebrating Chinese New Year in different ways.

The children listened to a story all about the festival and asked lots of different questions such as,“Why a dragon?”.  We practised our writing skills, learning how to hold a crayon and use it with control to make marks on our colouring pictures of a rat for New year. The children were all so proud to take these home to their loved ones.

Next we explored egg noodles and practicing our mixing skills added in a Chinese black bean sauce. The children had lots of fun doing this and enjoyed eating it for their tea, yum yum!

We put up a display in the main corridor with lots of different elements of new year including, pictures, dragons, words, numbers, chop sticks and fortune cookies. So that we could celebrate and share the festival with everyone.
