Pre-school two have been growing a variety of vegetable and plants in the garden vegetable patch over the last couple of months such carrots, sunflowers, tomatoes, potatoes, runner beans and courgettes. The beautiful sunshine we have enjoyed lately has really helped our crops to grow well. The children have enjoyed helping to plant the seeds, watering them and observing the plants and vegetables as they have grown.
Now that all the vegetables are ready, the children have enjoyed getting their hands dirty by picking them. The children felt a great sense of pride as they pulled up the vegetables that they had planted and cultivated with their own hands. We cooked some of the potatoes and courgettes and the children thought they tasted better because they had worked hard to grow them themselves! We were also able to do some vegetable printing with paint creating fantastic pictures. The children have also been doing some observational paintings of the plants and vegetables and displaying them in our investigation area.
