Today, pre-toddlers explored in the water tray in the garden. The children have recently shown a real interest in water play and love to splash in the water and use resources to fill and empty containers. Once the water tray was filled, the children began to put their hands in the water and move them around, watching the water ripple and also began to splash. Their carer came over to the water tray with acrylic teapots, silver scoops of different sizes and also some rose gold mugs. The carer demonstrated to the children how to fill up the containers then empty them into another container. The children copied their carer and began to fill up their containers and then empty them into another container.
Some children then began to pretend it was a drink and started to pretend to drink it. Their carer asked the children; “can I have a cup of tea please?”. Some of the children then began to fill up the mugs with water and gave it to their carer. Once their carer had pretended to drink the cup of tea, the children giggled and filled up the mug again. The children were very focused on this activity and stayed engaged for 15 minutes!
