One morning, several of the Preschool 1 children shared a story about pirates, which sparked their interest and they began to role play as a group being pirates. This shared interest in pirates led the children on a swashbuckling adventure on the high seas, aboard their very own pirate ship! It was all hands on deck to build and paint a seaworthy vessel. Using their expressive art and design skills, imagination and drawing on their own experiences and knowledge, they paid careful attention to details such as the colour brown to represent the wooden body of the ship, and layers of boxes to give their ship lots of height. They even added a mast and sail, which they decorated with hand prints of all the crew.
