Pre school 2 have been learning all about Chinese New Year.

The children have been looking at pictures of Chinese New Year celebrations and we have been reading some story books including Peppa Pig and Mr Men celebrating the new year. There have been lots of Chinese New Year activities for the children to get involved in. We have talked about how 2020 is the year of the rat and that every year this changes to a different animal. We have had red and gold water, which the children said was “Glittery tea!” and used play dough to mould into Chinese dumplings. Then the children designed and made a display board which describes all the activities we have taken part in.

The most popular activity was making our own dragon from a cardboard box, painting a sheet to make its body which led us to do our own dragon dancing alongside music from our Chinese music cd.
