Mixing a variety of tea bags with water, the children tried to guess the flavours using their sense of smell. English breakfast, lemon, strawberry, mint or camomile? They enjoyed stirring and squeezing the tea bags with a spoon or their hands to release more scent and colour into the water.
We added ‘milk’ (white paint) and watched as it swirled into the tea, changing the colour and opacity.
We talked about safety too when playing near or drinking hot drinks.
