Extending on from the baby room children’s interest in animals we created a sensory/mark making activity

Extending on from the baby room children’s interest in animals we created a sensory/mark making activity where the children were encouraged to make marks in the flour using the animal toys. The children looked at the paw print marks the animal toys created and put their own hands and feet into the flour to feel the texture. The adults named the animals and made the animal sounds to build the children’s vocabulary.

Next steps: To enhance this activity we plan to encourage the children to add water to the flour to create gloop and see how the texture changes.
