Valentines Week

In Pre School 2 we have enjoyed some exciting activities to celebrate Valentines Day and the ones we love.

We have made our own hearts using lots of different skills. To start, the children drew around a heart then used scissors to cut it out. Next we used a hole punch to make holes for them to thread their coloured ribbon through, then when finished they had a go at writing their own names across the back. This activity covered lots of learning intentions and was great to enhance their attention skills and also using different tools.

The children have also been making biscuits throughout the week, allowing the opportunity to take part in all the different areas of biscuit making such as weighing, mixing and molding. They also chose the lovely bright coloured food colouring to colour their biscuits and  topped them with a topping of their choice such as sprinkles, icing sugar and melted chocolate.

In the art area we have been doing observational drawings and paintings. In the middle of the table was a colourful bunch of flowers and also a variety of different coloured paints. The children selected the colours they wanted to use and painted a series of circles and lines to create their pictures. During this activity the children were able to describe and talk about what they see and paint their representation of it.
