This week Pre-School 1 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the fire station. The children were really excited and interested looking at the fire engine, they said “wow it’s a big fire engine!”. The fire fighters talked about their role in fire station, the importance of their jobs in the community and how they help provide security and save people’s lives.

They showed the children inside the fire engine and around all the equipment they have to use, they even got chance to sit in the fire engine and get a closer look  to investigate the different equipment.  Some children sat in the front of the fire engine and the fire fighter showed them lots of different buttons and how to put the loud sirens on for an emergency. The fire fighters demonstrated the powerful water hoses and the children were amazed how a squirt of the hose hit different cones down. Pre-school patiently waited their turn, then listening and following the instructions from the fire fighter they helped to knock the cones down. They were very enthusiastic and loved having a go!

The children had such a lovely time visiting the fire station, they gained lots of knowledge about different job roles which are important in our society and how they protect and help the community.
