At Worcester preschool we have been celebrating Diwali, the festival of light.

We explored the different patterns and colours of Diwali through messy play, creating patterns with shapes and using different coloured chalk pens to make pictures. Looking at Henna designs, we decorated our own henna hands, drawing around our hands and designing them how we want, incorporating ideas from pictures we could see. At circle time, we read a story all about Hinduism and Diwali and the children independently explored the pictures discussing Diwali with their friends. Then we turned off the lights and looked at all the fantastic colours of the disco globe.

It has been great fun learning lots about this festival and culture.
